China’s Meteorological Administrator and Delegation Enhance Collaboration at ESCAP/WMO Typhoon Committee Secretariat

Macao, China (12 September 2023) The ESCAP/WMO Typhoon Committee Secretariat (TCS) established in Macao, China, since 2007, welcomed a distinguished delegation led by China’s Meteorological Administrator (CMA), Dr. Chen Zhenlin, during their official visit. This visit aimed to strengthen regional cooperation on typhoon-related matters and promote disaster resilience in the Asia-Pacific region.

Dr. Chen Zhenlin and his delegation engaged in productive discussions with the Dr. Duan Yihong, the recently appointed the Typhoon Committee Secretary. Together, they explored opportunites to strengthen collaborative efforts in addressing typhoon issues and improving preparedness.

The visit also includes the presence of the Macau Meteorological and Geophysical Service ‘s (SMG) Director, Mr. Leong Weng Kun, along with his team.

During the visit, Dr. Chen Zhenlin extended warm compliments to Dr. Duan Yihong for his leadership and dedication in advancing the Committee’s objectives and goals. And stated that CMA will continue to support the work of the Typhoon Committee Secretariat.
