The ESCAP/WMO Typhoon Committee Roving Seminar 2025

The ESCAP/WMO Typhoon Committee Roving Seminar 2025 was held from November 3 to 5 in Guangzhou, China, bringing together distinguished guests, lecturers, and participants from Cambodia; China; Hong Kong, China; Republic of Korea; Thailand; and Vietnam. The topic this year was "Operational Application of Remote Sensing Technology in Tropical Cyclone Monitoring and Forecasting."

The comprehensive programme featured a series of expert-led lectures and Q&A sessions. Experts from the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) and the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) were invited to share their expertise in the following topics:

· Typhoon Monitoring and Forecasting

· Application of Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP)

· Applications of Radar and Satellite Monitoring

· Impact-Based Early Warning Systems

Participants of the seminar also shared global experiences from their own weather services in the "Participant's Forum". The event also included a field visit to the SuperMap South China Headquarters and a cultural visit to Guangzhou's Flower City Square.
