China held the Annual Training Course for TC WGH AOP8 in Cooperation with TCS
China, in cooperation with TC Working Group on Hydrology (WGH), held the training course for Annual Operating Plan 8 (AOP8) on Flood Control and Early-Warning and Forecasting and Hydrological Monitoring for Developing Countries in Nanjing, China, in conjunction with the Training Course on Water Ecosystems Protection and Restoration Technologies for Developing Countries from 6 to 26 November 2024 in Hangzhou/Nanjing, China, organized by Nanjing Research Institute of Hydrology and Water Conservation Automation (NIHWA) in cooperation with the National Research Institute for Rural Electrification (NRIRE) / Hangzhou Regional Center (Asia-Pacific) for Small Hydro Power (HRC), the Ministry of Water Resources of China, with financial support.
The training course was comprised by three main parts: lectures, study tours, and cultural experience. The main contents of the training course included water management philosophy and good examples, hydrological monitoring technology, acquire general ideas on how to apply the automatic system of hydro-meteorological data observation and transmission, and flood forecasting and early warding, etc.
The training course attended by 34 participants in total from 10 developing countries, including 6 participants from 3 TC Members. Vice president of Nanjing Hydraulic Research Institute (NHRI) Mr. WU Shiqiang, TCS hydrologist Dr. Jinping LIU on behalf of Typhoon Committee Secretariat (TCS), delivered remarks at closing Session and issued the certificates to participants.
