ESCAP/WMO Typhoon Committee held the Training Course for Knowledge Sharing on POSSIM in WMO RTC Nanjing
Nine trainees in total from 4 TC Members namely China; Macao, China; Philippines and Thailand attended the training course. Mr. Edwin Montvila, the meteorologist of National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forcast Office (WFO), Guam was invited as lecturer of the training course. TCS and RTC provided secretariat support. Prof. CHENG Fang, Dean of the School of International Education and Executive Deputy Director of WMO RTC Nanjing, on behalf of the president of NUIST delivered welcome speech at opening ceremony.

Localisation
During the training, the participants showed great enthusiasm for learning and a desire to master the
application of POSSIM. In order to assist and communicate with the participating Members
efficiently on POSSIM localization, Mr. Edwin Montvila set up two working groups via WeChat and
WhatsApp, respectively. And these two working groups started running immediately.
At the closing session, the participants exchanged their learning experiences and discussed the expectations and challenges of applying the POSSIM with localization in future. The hydrologist Dr. Jinping LIU, on behalf of TCS and WGH, briefed the implementation plan of AOP1 in next steps and expressed the requirement and expectation for the trainees. All participants expressed their sincerest appreciation to Mr. Edwin Montvila, TCS and WMO RTC Nanjing for the great efforts on this training course, particularly the staff of WMO RTC Nanjing for the thoughtful, timely and professional logistics services.
