Referring to the decision of the 55th Session of the ESCAP/WMO Typhoon Committee (TC),  Nanjing Research Institute of Hydrology and Water Conservation Automation (NIHWA), the Ministry of Water Resources of China, is hosting the annual training course for TC Working Group on Hydrology (WGH) Annual Operating Plan (AOP) on Flood Control and Early-Warning and Forecasting and Hydrological Monitoring for Developing Countries  virtually on September 13-26, 2023 with the generous offer of financial support.

The Secretary of Typhoon Committee Dr. Yihong DUAN delivered a speech at Opening Session virtually. On behalf of the Committee, he expressed the sincerest appreciation to the Government of China for the strong support to TC activities as always. He emphasized that training is an effective and important measure for TC Members to improve the capacity on typhoon-related disaster risk reduction, and to enhance the alignment of its activities with four pillars of the UN EW4all initiative. WGH AOP on “Training Course on Flood Control and Early-Warning and Forecasting and Hydrological Monitoring for Developing Countries” should be an excellent example of regional cooperation in TC, and will be greatly benefit all TC Members. Typhoon Committee will continue supporting this very meaningful cooperation project.
