26 November 2018: The fifty-first Session of the Typhoon Committee will be held in Guangzhou, China from 26 February to 01 March 2019. The Session is being convened by the Typhoon Committee, under the auspices of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), and hosted by the China Meteorological Administration (CMA). At the Session, the Committee will review the progress made in its programme of work in 2018 and make plans for activities to be undertaken in 2019 and beyond, together with the support required to implement them. This year, the Session takes on special significance as it will also cover strategic and development issues such as the new of the Strategic Plan 2017-2021.
1 August 2018: With the kind support of Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS), the Roving Seminar 2018 will be held in Singapore from 20 to 22 November 2018. The Seminar aims to promote knowledge sharing and capacity-building activities among Typhoon Committee Members on aspects such as tropical cyclone analysis, forecast and warning as well as the impact of associated hazards on socio-economic development. The main theme of the Seminar in 2018 will be on “Application of Remote Sensing Technologies”.
21 March 2018: In continuation of the celebrations of the 50th year of Typhoon Committee, a Special Edition of TC50 Newsletter will be published for the 1st Semester in 2018. Beside the news of the 50th Session, we will also include the High Level Session held in Viet Nam with PR’s speeches and photos. Please send us your PR’s photos, Display Area Photos and Posters that you have taken during the event to be include as your country activity before 17 April 2018. The TC50 Newsletter Special Edition will be distributed during the 13th IWS in Thailand.
